The Rural Education Society® was started in June 1955 by Poojya Sri.S.Kariappa.The Society stood up for higher education vying with colleges that were few and far between in those days. The early days of the Society were adventure some with primitive facilities. Gradually The College became a beacon of enlightenment and boys and girls from every corner of the taluk as well as neighboring taluks streamed in quest of learning. It was only a science Society in the beginning. Students of this taluk had to go to Bangalore or Mysore for passing B.Sc Degree. The Founder President Poojya Sri S. Kariappa identified this need and started the institution as a science Society, but gradually the demand of the local population for Arts and commerce courses increased. In 1965 Arts and commerce courses started. Management course was started in the year of 2000. PG courses in Kannada and History were started in the year of 2010-11 and commerce course in the year of 2012-13. The Society is situated in a sprawling area of 21.5 acres. The total built up area of the Society is 7200 square meter. The Society is Affiliated to Bangalore University and it is a co-educational Society. The Society caters to mainly to the Rural students of surrounding villages of the Kanakapura Taluk.

Rural Education Society® started the Sri S.Kariyappa College of Education (B.Ed College) in 2005 - to train students into becoming useful and effective teachers for secondary schools and award the B.Ed. Sri S.Kariyappa College of Education was established in 2005. The College is recognized by N.C.T.E. and affiliated to Bangalore University. The College caters to pre-service training of Secondary School Teachers. The College is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education, Delhi, the College is affiliated to Bangalore University.
Teaching is the noble profession. Dedication, Devotion, Determination to the cause of educational & commitment to teaching are the essential qualities of a good teacher. Students are like raw stones, it is in the hands of a teacher to polish the same in to an idol of worship or just a stepping stone. Such proficient teachers can be produced only by institutions that have a vision for the development of the society through right education.
It is an honour and a privilege for me to be the Principal of SRI S.KARIYAPPA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (B.Ed COLLEGE), KANAKAPURA having its own vision, mission and identity. We want to prepare our student to inculcate human values such as love, sincerity, empathy, co-operation and constitutional values and thereby impart these values to their students to create a better society.

SRI S.KARIYAPPA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (B.Ed COLLEGE), KANAKAPURA is an off-shoot of Rural Education Society® Group of Institutions, was established in the year 2005.
The College affiliated to Bangalore University and recognized by NCTE. The College is situated in 21.5 acres of RES Campus. Rural Education Society® Group of Institutions Campus in Kanakapura City. The College organizes campus interview with the collaborations of many prestigious educational Institutions. Many of the student teachers studied here have occupied prestigious positions in various sectors in different capacities especially in the field of Education.
The College has well trained, experienced and efficient faculty members, who is serving whole heartedly for the good cause of education. All the facets of the Institution are taken care for further development and extension to become an ideal Institution.
